Love Dove

Welcome,

Hi everybody. Here is another of my photo art nature series. I was out walking one morning near the beach with my camera in tow of course and this little beauty stopped me in my tracks.

I have been wanting to do a series on Mourning Doves for quite some time and getting some up close reference of them is always on my agenda. However this is a Eurasian Collared Dove. Along with art, photography, music, writing and outdoor adventures another thing I enjoy immensely is learning.

When I took a second look at my photo I realized there were some markings missing from what I thought was a Mourning Dove and so decided to review bird identification sites. Once again my art and my curiosity teaches me about the planet!

Say, if you have not been over to view my art www.alanphillipstudio.com head on over and have a look. Art work for sale there are specified with size medium and prices if you are looking to add some new beautiful art to your collection.

Little Egret

Welcome.

It really is such a marvel to me that there is such an abundance of beauty in our world amidst the chaos and stress.

This is beautiful on so many levels from the sunlight, the colors of red, ochre green in the grass to the greens, blues and grays in the water with just a touch of the sunlight yellow up in the corner. Then of course your illustrious artist has cropped this photo so that it has a simple dynamic of angles, point and counterpoint.

This is from my art photo nature series.

You can see more of my painting fine art at my website alanphillipstudio.com.

You can also have a bunch of fun and follow me over on theartstack.com where I have both a profile page and an artist page.

Whale Watch

Welcome,

This was an all time favorite from Ogunquit, Maine on the Northeastern coast of the United States. It is in a private collection.

It is an oil painting on canvas and roughly 9" x 12"  in size.

Now that summer is approaching I thought it a good time to see which way the wind blows.

Thank you for visiting today.

Good Friends

Welcome.

This is a piece I have reworked a little since it was published in Greenwich Polo Magazine in 1996. That's the clubhouse in the background.

There is something special about the connection we have to our animal friends especially cats, dogs and horses as they are and have been family and working companions on so many fronts.

This painting was done from time spent on Conyers Farm as the center for Greenwich Polo Club in Greenwich, Connecticut USA. This was one of the forwards from Argentina who was at ease with his friend before the first chukker.

Good Friends is oil on canvas 30" x 40 " and is available on my website for purchase. alanphillipstudio.com in the archives section.

The Sound of Silence #2

Welcome.

Here is another view of the Long Island Sound from the opposite side of That Lonesome Sound painting which was done in late summer and where this one was painted in winter. I used to go out to this point when the day was a bit overwhelming and just ease into the serenity and breathe.

This is a 11" x 14" oil on canvas with a 1.5" deep gallery wrap stretcher bar. There is a fullness to the forms that I like in this piece along with the texture, the cool light and the fiery colored sea grass giving warmth against the cold.

And as you may have guessed...it's very quiet out here. One can hear oneself think. Nature is so perfect.

This work is available through my website alanphillipstudio.com and I have a free newsletter sign up for my outstanding one page musings on the my current art and classics present and past.

That Lonesome Sound

Welcome.

Dawn and dusk are without a doubt such wonderful times of the day in terms of light and color. This scene is another point from the shores of Connecticut looking out to Long Island Sound and Long Island, New York  itself in the USA.

Coming from New England as I did I have a penchant for rolling stone walls that I used to play among as a child in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. I just love how that last bit of light shimmers on the water before the whole of the earth becomes simply shapes and shadow in the night.

The sounds I hear out on this point at this time of day are the seabirds calling to each other and perhaps the rustle of the leaves and a gentle lapping of the waves on the shore...that lonesome sound. Peaceful.

This is oil on canvas and measures 14" x 18" there are more details on it on my website which is alanphillipstudio.com. Stop by when you get a chance and sign up for my free newsletter!

The Sleeping Cat

Welcome.

Here is one of my memories from St. Maarten. Days were languid and the light was ethereal soft and welcoming. I began most mornings with fresh papaya and mango.

I love to explore and on this small island I never ran out of adventures or fascinating corners to turn and this is an old wooden cat boat I found down at the end of a secluded lane that opened out to the sea.

The Sleeping Cat is oil on canvas and is 11" x 14" with a depth of 1.5"

Please take a moment to come over and take a look around my website alanphillipstudio.com. I have the prices and sizes listed for the art and I have a newsletter you can get for free by signing up!!
