Windy Day On Atlantic Beach

Welcome.

Here is another on location painting of a spot that I love. Mostly it is best for me off season on a day such as this in March when it is deserted. Earlier this morning I caught the sunrise here and it was a treasure of pleasure!

What is astounding to me though is that just on the other side of the boardwalk railing it's Neptune Beach, running southward to Jacksonville Beach and another great stretch of our coastline. Lucky I am to have the opportunity to capture these delights. This is a 11x14  inch oil on canvas. Sold. original price $1,200.00.

What I like about this painting is that it looks like it just fell off the brush, fresh, crisp but loose and gestural. Fun!

Over The Open Marsh

Welcome.

Some days when I am at a loss for a reason or an explanation of why I feel disconnected I go to this part of the salt marsh. There always seems to be a a cool breeze to greet me as I step into the flyway. The richness of the colors, watching the wildlife soaring on wing and fishing for dinner or the change of the shapes and tones in the sky is a sure bet to get me back on track and it is one of gratitude to be a part of and have access to such beauty.

I liked the fun in the composition here kind of looping from left to right and then the big brown bringing you back in. I also enjoyed abstracting the foreground and letting the crisp detail accentuate the pelican and then you get that little pop of green up river. This is from the ICW.

The art is 30x40 inches oil on canvas and was one of my  commissions from last year.

The Beach House

Welcome.

It is a glorious day outside right now. There is a cool breeze at the beach and yet the sun is warm enough to be in shirtsleeves and shorts. Nothing beats the feeling of my bare feet on the soft sand with my toes in a flex flow excited wiggle as if freed from captivity!

This is a watercolor on board 15x20 inches and was sold to a woman from Crescent Beach who lives in a house twice this size that had beach sand on the back door step and spectacular ocean mural art running the length of the house downstairs. God bless the art collectors!!
And yes, she commissioned me to do a portrait of her home as well.

This was a piece that ran in Water's Edge Magazine around 2007.

If you visit zazzle.com and look under sunnybeachman you can find 10 of my images on t shirts, mugs, cards,  phone cases and other cool items to purchase that will brighten your day!

Safe Harbor

Welcome.

"Makes no difference where you go every journey ends.
Each new landscape now you know.Ia stepping stone till you're safe at home."

This is the first part of the song, "Crayon Sun" by Michael Franks. I am a fan.

That is the idea here, a place of sanctuary. Most of the day these waterbirds are on the move, searching out the schools of baitfish that sustain them. Safe Harbor is the name a of a fish wholesaler in Mayport Florida and these happy birds know that there is plenty of scrap and plenty of abundance to knick a free one from the fisherman that dock here and unload the fresh catch. The two hulls are of smaller trawlers than the the big shrimp boats but still a great refuge in the harbor for our local winged friends to bask in the sun after a feast.

I am fascinated by the light that bounces off the water and dances on the hulls. I think I got the color and the composition true on this one! Hope you enjoy it.

This is a 36x48 inch oil on canvas, the wrap around style.

It is available for $7,500.00 US plus shipping and handling.

Please contact Montgomerey Belefonte my representative here at alanlovesart@gmail.com if you have an interest in purchasing this work for your own.

The Playground of Marigot on the Island St-Martin/St Maarten

Welcome.

I took a trip to this island somewhere around 1983. Hardly seems possible. If I recall this scene was a grotto out near the end of baie rouge and a destination for me and three gals I met at the hotel whom I became friends with and had as playmates for the trip. Full blown hedonistic Eden was the order of the day, that and tons of sunblock. I remember Aleta and her fun loving laughter. Partying with Dave at Dave's restaurant was on the itinerary and hanging out in Philipsburg as well. It was the first time I had eaten fresh picked Mango and I am a fan to this day.

This is an oil painting 30x40 inches and has been sold. I loved the layering of the sand and the water where I have created a surface and yet you get to see some of what is underneath. The whole island  was a translucent jewel to behold. May it forever be so.

Please be sure to visit zazzle.com and look for sunnybeachman and 10 different watercolor art pieces of mine that you can get on phone holders, cards,t shirts, sweatshirts and other fun items.
