Terracotta pot full of geranium and marigold dreams......

This was always one of my favorite watercolor pieces.

It is 15 x 20 watercolor on board and was sold about 15 years ago and created five years before that. I love flowers and especially dig how color is reflected and picked up by white surfaces. The composition in this one is rather striking. There is so much action going on in the angles of shadows, stairs and molding and yet the central focus helps keep the simplicity and poetry of the piece.

I had been at a tennis camp up in Hamilton Massachusetts, USA and wandering around one evening spotted this little vignette on a porch and snapped a shot of it to paint from later.

More to come.....
